The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) and the School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC) have launched the fifth edition of the Specialized Training Program for Data Protection Officers (DPO), which on this occasion is aimed especially at technical staff in the public sector and departments of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and at technical staff in local entities and the local public sector.
The director of APDCAT, Meritxell Borràs, and the director of EAPC, Jaume Magre, welcomed the new students. In her speech, Borràs highlighted that the work of DPDs is essential for the correct processing of personal data in institutions, and recalled that it requires a capacity for constant adaptation to new regulatory frameworks. For this reason, APDCAT has committed to offering training, advice and consultation support to help them in this process. She also encouraged them to participate in the DPD learning and collaboration network of Catalonia, ‘DPD en xarxa’, to foster synergies and promote the exchange of knowledge.
The course, which will run until June, will help DPOs acquire new skills, competencies and knowledge to ensure optimal development of their advisory and supervisory work in entities, in accordance with data protection regulations.
The training lasts 180 hours, and is taught in person, with theoretical and practical classes distributed over 24 units. The program can be consulted.
