APDCAT is organizing this year the ‘Artificial Intelligence Applied to Facial Recognition’ event as part of the Mobile World Congress, in the 4YFN event,. The main risks for privacy ’, to put on the table the dangers for privacy that the implementation of this technology may entail.
The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) organizes within the Mobile World Congress, in the Four Years From Now (4YFN) event, the debate “Artificial intelligence applied to facial recognition. Main risks for privacy”. This event brings together the entrepreneurial international sector and emerging technology companies. Although facial recognition is not a new technology, in recent years it has greatly improved its capabilities and, above all, its deployment worldwide. In combination with new technologies, such as the IoT, people’s rights may be jeopardized.
The debate will feature experts in the field, who will delve into the current state of this technology, future prospects, and its impact on human rights. Specifically, M. Àngels Barbarà, director of the Catalan Data Protection Authority, will take part; Simona Levi, activist for democratic innovation in the digital age and co-founder of Xnet; Carles Fernández, technical director (CTO) at Herta Security, and Josep Domingo-Ferrer, director of the UNESCO Chair in Data Privacy at the URV.
The session will be available online next Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m.
