The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) has shared in Bilbao the success case of 'DPD en xarxa', the first learning and collaboration community of data protection officers (DPO) in Catalonia , promoted by the Authority more than a year ago. Thus, within the framework of the 1st Basque Meeting of Data Protection Officers, organized by the Basque Data Protection Agency, the director of the APDCAT, Meritxell Borràs, wanted to highlight the task carried out to materialize this project driven with the aim of offering a space for exchange between DPOs to enhance the creation of knowledge and synergies.
During his speech, Borràs congratulated the AVPD for the creation of the Basque DPO network, which should serve to enhance collaboration between the professionals who ensure compliance with the data protection standard in the basque country's organizations. He recalled that two years ago the APDCAT wanted to be closer to the DPOs, without this compromising its mission of supervision and control. Thus, he has defended that 'DPD en xarxa' is a pioneering network throughout the State that enhances the figure of the DPO as a key piece in the fulfillment of rights and freedoms in the matter of data protection.
New web platform and app
Precisely, last October, the APDCAT put into operation a new renewed web platform and a mobile application of 'DPD en xarxa', with the aim of providing the network with the appropriate tools to promote the exchange of expertise and participation. In this sense, the new web platform dpdenxarxa.cat and the app mean an improvement of the user experience and facilitate joint work, training and collaboration.
The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) has participated in the 1st Basque Meeting of Data Protection Officers, organized by the Basque Data Protection Agency, to highlight this network as a catalyst for the exchange of knowledge between DPD and key to exploiting synergies.
