The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) is filling this year's Children's Festival, at the Montjuïc fairground, with magic and games. Thus, from December 27 to 31, participate again in this event that brings together thousands of children and families every year with the aim of bringing them closer to the importance of protecting privacy when they use internet and social networks, based on fun activities that facilitate the integration of this message, whithin the framework of the Christmas holidays.
For this reason, the APDCAT has prepared the magic show P@ssW0rd!, which will be performed once a day from December 27 to 31. From the hand of magician Pol Pavo, children will be able to participate in various magic tricks, to end up generating a good password to protect themselves against intruders. To get here, however, through card games and tricks, the children will become aware of how to maintain privacy in the digital world, of phishing and its risks, and of the privacy implications of sharing geolocation, among other aspects.
Performance times will vary by day. Specifically, it will be:
- December 27, at 1 p.m
- December 28, at 1 p.m
- December 29, at 6 p.m
- December 30, at 4:30 p.m
- December 31, at 1 p.m

On the other hand, the APDCAT space will transport children (from 7 years old) and their families to a tropical forest. There, they will have to go to great lengths to avoid being "entangled by the net." And the fact is that the forest will host a network labyrinth, full of data, which the children will go through as they decide which data to leave on the network and which not, and if they remove personal data from the network.
For the little ones (from 3 years old) and their families, the APDCAT space will also host a ball pool to "fish for data." With this activity, they will be able to raise awareness of what type of data is personal data and the importance of taking care of it, to avoid both digital fraud and manipulation, harassment or discrimination, as well as other harm in social life or present or future employment.
APDCAT's participation in this year's Children's Festival is part of the actions of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, to raise awareness and train the public in data protection. In addition, it is taken into account that children and young people are a particularly vulnerable group to the risks of the internet and social networks.
The Catalan Data Protection Authority participates from December 27 to 31 in this year's edition of the Children's Festival, to sensitize children and families on how to protect privacy when using the internet and social networks, by a magic show and games specially designed for this occasion
