The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) and the School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC) have promoted the development of new informational materials to introduce data protection concepts to public sector staff. Specifically, they have released the first in a series of informative podcasts and videos with data protection as the center. The aim is to raise awareness and contribute to the dissemination of the rights of citizens in matters of personal data protection.
On the one hand, the new informative video delves into the value of personal data in a practical and simple way, by the data protection officer and manager of strategic projects of the APDCAT, Joana Marí Cardona.
On the other hand, the podcast analyzes the limits between the right of access to public information and the protection of personal data, based on practical examples. The content has been prepared by Eva Garcia Garcia, inspector and transparency manager of the APDCAT.
These two materials represent the starting point for the production of a set of open audiovisual resources on data protection, within the framework of the collaboration between the APDCAT and the EAPC, which during 2023 will produce new videos and podcasts. The videos will aim to provide a more general overview and introduce basic concepts of the subject in the public sector field, while the podcasts will offer a more in-depth and specialized analysis.
These resources are available in the School's Open Training space, on the APDCAT website, as well as on the Youtube channel of the School of Public Administration of Catalonia and on the main podcast platforms: Spotify, Anchor , Amazon Music, Castbox, Pocket Cast, Stitcher and Ivoox.
With these audiovisual resources, the School expands the content it has been publishing over the last few years in the open, in the open training space, linked to mass, self-learning and deepening courses: Transparency and access to information , MOOC Transparency and data protection: interaction and balance, Basic guidelines on transparency and access to public information (with self-assessment questionnaires), Basic guidelines for the protection of personal data in the public sector (with self-assessment questionnaires), The processing of personal data in the public sector.
The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) and the School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC) have jointly promoted the development of new informative materials, to introduce data protection concepts to public sector employees.
