The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) and the School of Public Administration of Catalonia (EAPC) are organizing the second edition of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) course. This time the activity is aimed at the local level and its public sector, and will take place from February 25 to July 15, 2022. The aim of this training activity is to provide DPOs in this field with the skills and competencies necessary to ensure adequate advice and supervision of data protection regulations. Also provide them with the legal and technological knowledge needed to identify possible risk scenarios for people's rights and freedoms and minimize them accordingly. Finally, DPOs are required to acquire the management and leadership skills necessary to perform the assigned functions.
The 180-hour course will be taught in person, with theoretical and practical classes distributed in 24 units. More general topics will be covered, such as the legal framework, principles, data protection rights, agents involved in the processing of personal data, records of processing activities, data protection impact assessments, etc. But also more specific subjects, such as the skills of DPOs, electronic communications, human resources management and data protection, among others.
This training is aimed at Group A1 staff of local bodies and their public sector included in the Register of DPOs notified to the APDCAT. Only one application may be submitted for each local body or entity in its public sector and the selection of students will be made proportionally between the different territories of Catalonia. Registration for the course can be done until February 4.
