The Data Protection Advisory Board is the advisory and participatory body of the APDCAT. The Advisory Council has the following functions:
- Propose to Parliament the candidates to lead the Authority.
- Issue a report on the draft instructions that are submitted to it by the Authority.
- Issue a report on the Authority's draft annual budget proposed by the director.
- Advise the Authority's director on those matters that are submitted to it.
- Prepare a mandatory report prior to the approval of the Authority's staff.
- Prepare a binding report on the maximum number of temporary staff assigned to the Authority.
- Prepare studies and proposals on the protection of personal data and request the director to establish criteria on the matter.

- One person representing consumers' and users' associations, appointed by the Consumer Council of Catalonia.

- The director of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia (ex-officio member).
Mr. Francesc Xavier Cuadras Morató
- An official from the Catalan Data Protection Authority, who will act as Secretary to the Board.
The members of the Data Protection Advisory Board are renewed every five years in accordance with the statutes of the APDCAT. The head of the APDCAT also attends the meetings of the Advisory Board with a voice but no vote.
