The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) is launching a maze game today at the Children's Festival, so that children and their families can learn the importance of taking care of personal data on the internet and social networks. This is a fun activity that invites children from 7 years old to explore a maze full of data stuck in a network in the middle of a tropical forest.
The dynamic consists of choosing which data to "save" from the network, on the labyrinth's path to the exit, with the aim of making children and families reflect on the importance of protecting data that is used to identify people, such as name, telephone number, address, image, voice... Also on the repercussions that sharing it without control and having others manipulate or use it inappropriately can have.
With the motto 'Don't let the network confuse you', the space reserved for the APDCAT, measuring nearly 100 m2, has been designed taking into account the Authority's commitment to gamification and the advantages of learning through games. The aim is to raise awareness about the risks involved in losing control of personal data and sharing personal information on the internet and social networks.
Magic tricks for children
In addition to raising awareness through games, the APDCAT will also offer the magic show P@ssW0rd! this year, once a day during the festival. The show promotes children's participation in discovering key data that will allow them to solve a final riddle about personal data, using different magic tricks and lots of fun.
The show can be seen on the youth stage on these dates:
- December 27, at 11am
- December 28, at 5pm
- December 29, at 11am
- December 30, at 5pm
