The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) will participate in the European Spring Conference of Data Protection Authorities, to be held in Batumi, Georgia. The director of the APDCAT, Meritxell Borràs, and Professor Alessandro Mantelero will present the Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment (FRIA) model.
The conference will analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on fundamental rights, a central aspect of the AI Act and several recent regulatory proposals. This assessment serves as a bridge between data protection (DPIA/PIA) and the risk-based approach applied to AI.
Previously, at Panel V, "Small DPAs Against Big Cases: Navigating Major Cases with Limited Resources," Xavier Urios, head of the APDCAT’s Legal Advisory Department, will present the agreement with GAIP to resolve complaints regarding individuals’ access to the traceability of their medical records.
