The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) will be present at the 4YFN Mobile World Congress 2026, from 2 to 5 March, with the aim of fostering a culture of privacy among individuals and organizations involved in technological innovation and the development of products and services with a major impact on society. Once again, the Authority is seizing the opportunities offered by this leading international event to promote ethical technology that respects fundamental rights, especially the right to data protection.
Specifically, on Wednesday, 4 March at 10:00 a.m., at the Ágora Stage, APDCAT will host the conference ‘Robots, AI and fundamental rights: a new member of the family?’, featuring Carme Torras Genís, mathematician, PhD in computer science, and research professor at the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics (CSIC-UPC). The session will be introduced by APDCAT Director Meritxell Borràs Solé and moderated by the Head of APDCAT’s Legal Advisory Office, Xavier Urios Aparisi. The aim is to raise awareness of the impact that the development and use of AI may have on fundamental rights, highlighting the prominent role played by AI-powered robots and how they can influence people, both positively and negatively.
In addition, APDCAT will host a permanent space located in Hall 8.1, easily accessible from the north entrance. This space will include the InfoPrivacy Point, a consultation and advisory hub designed to address privacy-related questions from both attendees and participating organizations. A new edition of the Privacy Warrior Challenge competition will also take place, testing attendees’ knowledge in the field of privacy.
