The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) will participate in the conference ‘Governing AI: Regulation, Research, and Impact on the Business Ecosystem’, which will take place on Thursday, 19 February 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce.
The session, part of the RETECH program, aims to provide a clear and practical overview of the regulatory framework for artificial intelligence and its real-world application, with the goal of supporting companies and ecosystem actors in the responsible, safe, and European values–aligned adoption of AI.
During the event, APDCAT Director Meritxell Borràs Solé will give a presentation on the current AI framework, its regulation, and practical implications for SMEs. Afterwards, APDCAT’s Data Protection Delegate and Head of Strategic Projects, Joana Marí Cardona, will participate in the roundtable ‘AI Governance: How to Move Forward with Legal Certainty’, where she will present the pioneering European model developed by the Authority for the Assessment of Fundamental Rights Impact (FRIA), applied to the design and development of AI systems.
The conference will also feature a roundtable with experts from the technological, legal, and academic fields, as well as the awarding of certificates for the programs ‘Regula-IA’ and ‘Responsible AI Management’.
The event is aimed at companies, technical and legal professionals, innovation and digital transformation managers, as well as research groups, start-ups, and students interested in the field of artificial intelligence.
